Once Upon A Time

Hello lovely readers!

We’re baaaaaaaaack…

Okay so the plan was to post Throwdown next because it’s what we wrote after Ain’t No Grave. However, I really, really want to get this one started because it’s our first canon story and it’s a fairytale! I want to note that this story pulls things from both SVM and True Blood to create its mythology, and some of it is purely from our imaginations. This story was particularly fun for me to write because there are all of these opportunities for comedy. You’ll see that relatively soon. This marks what I’m fairly certain is Scribe’s first attempt at writing a canon Eric, so it was a challenge for her. The plot came together pretty quickly and we banged this out in short order.

Huge thanks to kjwrit and Storiesforevy for being super awesome pre-readers on this piece and letting us know where we were going wrong with it. Y’all are awesomesauce. I’ll check with Fintan to see if there’s some sort of fairy cloning magic he can use to make you your very own Vikings.

So, here’s the prologue. We hope you enjoy…

Once upon a time in a small Louisiana town there was a little girl by the name of Sookie Stackhouse. She was sound asleep in the little bed in her grandmother’s guest bedroom. Her cheeks were flushed thanks to the humid Louisiana night; her long, golden hair was a tangled mop from a long day of playing in the warm summer sun. Her grandmother, Adele, peered out the bedroom window at the woods behind the old Stackhouse farmhouse. The home had been in the family for generations.

After bending to kiss her little granddaughter’s head, Adele left the bedroom to watch an old Humphrey Bogart movie before retiring for the night. Adele settled in her favorite chair with a cup of tea and the television tuned in to the right station.

It was a lovely night in Bon Temps. Crickets were chirping in the woods and there was a nice breeze blowing the handmade lace curtains that hung in the windows. As Adele sipped her tea, her program began. The opening music for Casablanca filled the room and Adele smiled fondly at the television screen. She recalled seeing the film for the first time as a girl. It was the film that caused her to fall in love with Bogey.

Perhaps twenty minutes into the movie, the news broke into the regularly scheduled programming with a special bulletin. Adele watched with rapt attention as a trusted reporter announced that there was proof of a species other than humans were coexisting with humans. Adele’s heart leapt into her throat. She sat forward in her seat, questioning whether or not she had finally gone senile.

Was it possible?

Could vampires really exist?
